Lip Fillers
Over time and as we age, it is natural to lose volume in the lips. But with the help of lip fillers, you can enjoy a more youthful pout again. These lip injections, also called dermal fillers, can enhance the volume of the lips, for a full but natural look. Clinica Lase uses medically safe and cost-effective lip enhancement and lip augmentation procedures for the best results.
Commonly asked Questions
What happens before getting lip filler at Clinica Lase?
We ask all patients to fill out a consultation form before lip injections treatment begins. This will involve answering a series of questions, such as any medical conditions you have or any previous treatments completed. In addition, you will talk with a doctor and cosmetic nurse. This discussion will make sure that lip fillers are the right treatment for the patient and you can ask any questions that you have. A tailored treatment plan will be created for the best results.
What happens during the lip filler treatment?
At Clinica Lase, the lip filler procedure is quick and simple.
The clinician will use a fine needle to inject the dermal filler into the lips. They will then gently massage the lips to ensure that the product is evenly distributed to enhance the volume of the lips.
Do lip filler injections hurt?
There is some minimal discomfort with lip filler injections. If you are feeling anxious or worried about the procedure, tell your clinician. They will want to make the procedure a comfortable and positive experience for you.
What can I expect after lip fillers?
Some swelling and redness around the injection site is normal after having lip fillers.
Patients should not worry if it feels tender and this should not last long. But if you do have prolonged discomfort after the procedure, be sure to contact Clinica Lase right away.
Is swelling normal after lip filler injections?
Yes. It is normal to see some swelling and redness around the injection sites after lip filler treatments. You can treat this with a cold compress to relieve discomfort and take paracetamol for any discomfort or headache.
Are bumps normal after lip filler injections?
Yes, bumps and lumps are normal after lip fillers. As time goes on, the filler will spread evenly through the tissues in your lips and these lumps will disappear.
If any lumps remain after two weeks, call your clinician for a follow up appointment to help correct the issue.
Do lip filler injections cause bruising?
Bruising is another normal side effect after lip injections that usually subsides within a few days. You can ice the lip area or take over the counter pain medications to alleviate any discomfort.
Note that you should only see this in the lip area. If you notice bruising or have any pain elsewhere after treatments, please check in with your clinician or doctor immediately.
What is the recommended aftercare for lip fillers?
As mentioned above, it’s fine to use a cold compress on your lips after having lip injections to help alleviate any discomfort associated with swelling or bruising. We recommend ice for no more than ten minutes at a time.
Staying hydrated will also help speed up the recovery process and ensure that your new lips will look their best.

Is there anything I need to avoid after a lip filler injection?
Things to avoid after lip fillers:
- Drinking alcohol – causes blood vessel dilation and disrupts healing
- Exercise and heat (like steam rooms or saunas) – both also cause blood vessel dilation
- Products with retinoids, AHAs or BHAs
- Any facial massages or facial treatments (for at least 48 hours)
- Flying internationally, which can cause symptoms to worsen.
Can I wear makeup after lip fillers?
Yes, you can wear mineral makeup after lip injections. This can be applied in the 48 hours after having this procedure. Just be sure to wash any sponges or brushes thoroughly to ensure there is no risk of infection.
Is there any downtime associated with lip filler?
The great thing about lip fillers is that there is no downtime. This means that patients can leave the clinic as soon as they are ready and return to their daily routine without any disruption. There is no time off work required and often lip fillers are called a lunchtime treatment because patients will return right back to the office afterwards. You may experience swelling though which might make you feel self conscious, but this will subside within a week.
